About

The Coaches

Colleagues since 1970, Chip Castleberry and Dean Lamb have been best friends ever since. Dean taught Industrial Arts and PE and Chip taught Social Studies and PE both at Analy High School. Between the two of them they have coached high school football, boys’ and girls’ basketball, boys’ and girls’ golf, wrestling, and track and field, winning numerous championships. They have mentored many local athletes along the way.

They built one of the first quality high school weight rooms in Sonoma County and graduated athletes would always ask to come back to work out. This gave them the idea that our small town needed a health club. When deciding to open a business, a handshake was all that was needed. They never quit their day-jobs at Analy but split a PE position for a few years. Chip worked at Coaches’ in the morning and Dean worked in the afternoon. People advised against friends going into business together, but they are proud to tell you that they have never had an argument in their 50 years of friendship!

The original Coaches’ Corner was started in 1983 on the corner of Ragle Road and Bodega Highway, hence the name for a business built by 2 coaches located on a corner or “Coaches’ Corner”. In 1994 the opportunity came to move to a larger location and the health club moved to its current Morris Street address. Both coaches are very proud of what their dream has become and appreciative of our small town community support!
